Country Music Shines Through At The 2009 American Music Awards

After coming off her award as the Entertainer of the Year at the Country Music Awards, Taylor Swift has more awards to put into her trophy case after winning the top prize in the Artist of the Year category.

Taylor was also awarded the favorite female artist award for Country and Rock/Pop. The teen sensation also captured the top position for the favorite adult contemporary artist which is kind of a surprise, even though her hit single “White Horse” was a favorite among her older fans, this is usually given to the top selling performer outside of the normal pop music crowd.

Her Fearless album was voted favorite country album. Unfortunately the 19 year old country songwriter was in England getting ready for her performance at the sold out Wembley Stadium. Taylor was waiting for results of the awards show and was able to make live quick speeches as the night went along.

Keith Urban, performed his song “Kiss A Girl” and was named as the favorite male country artist, Carrie Underwood also performed her current hit “Cowboy Casanova” and was a crowd favorite.

Rascal Flatts won the favorite country band or duo award. The band thanked everyone after they took the stage for the fourth time in four years as the winner for this category.

Gloriana was named as the breakthrough artist of the year after all the critics assumed Lady Gaga would win.

This goes to show you the popularity of current group of top country artists, and the ability they have to crossover into the mainstream music award shows.

Carrie Underwood Running From The Cowboy Casanova’s

Top country singer Carrie Underwood has always been able to produce a hit since she first came onto the seen as an American Idol winner, and her latest song – Cowboy Casanova is no exception.

The video is scheduled to be released on October 2nd as part of a large music video coming out party Weekend on CMT, and there is much anticipation as to who the Casanova might be in the three minute movie…….

As usual Carrie Underwood has been busy lately with appearances at the 2nd annual ACM Honors Award show in Nashville, and she also had the Itunes release of Cowboy Casanova come out this week. The much anticipated release of her new album Play On will be available to purchase on November 3rd, and the first reviews of the CD have been very good, so expect more top country songs from the Grammy Award winning singer.

Carrie Underwood Music To Be Inducted Into The Oklahoma Music Hall of Fame

As if country music sweetheart Carrie Underwood needs anymore awards to show how popular her music is, even so, the Oklahoma Native would probably tell you how proud she is to be included in the Oklahoma Music Hall of Fame.

Carrie Underwood is the current American Country Music Entertainer of the Year, and the four time Grammy award winner is expected to release a new album in late 2009 or early 2010 after her current tour ends, and after she gets a well deserved break in the fall.

Country Music and Oprah Winfrey Special

The popularity of Country music has been growing steadily, and now it seems the current generation of new artists have made their way into the pop charts, so naturally the biggest names in entertainment want to associate themselves with the top country songwriters and performers. Oprah Winfrey has always been a supporter of country music, and now she has dedicated a one hour show to the country music industry.

The show is expected to have some great behind the scenes video of the performers as they get ready for shows, or are just hanging around. The artists that are on the show will be Sugarland and Darius Rucker, who have already confirmed this on their websites, and also Kenny Chesney and Carrie Underwood. The stars will be doing interviews with Oprah, and are also expected to perform some of their hit songs.

Girls Night Out at the 2009 ACM Awards

For the music fans that watched the 2009 ACM Awards show, and did not know the top country artists, were rewarded with the best of the best in modern country music. After an opening medley of top performers, Reba McEntire took over as The Master of Ceromonies, and once again did a skillful job of telling jokes and keeping the show moving, later on she sang her new song – Strange, that seemed to be a hit with the audience.

As the awards were being given out, it was obvious that the girls of country have made a large impact on the awards show, Taylor Swift was part of a magic trick, played the piano and guitar, and helped start the show in the eight performer opener, by the way she also won Album of the Year for Fearless.

Carrie Underwood won the big prize as Entertainer of the Year, and also captured the Top Female Singer of the Year. Carrie’s rendition of I Told You So, was almost overshadowed by her enormous Russet Ballgown.

Jennifer Nettles shined throughout the night when the talented singer was asked to perform three times, and also won the Top Vocal Duo as part of Sugarland.

Julianne Hough was named as the Top New Female Vocalist. Leann Rimes was awarded the Home Depot Humanitarian Award in recognition of “all the time and effort and passion she devotes to many charitable organizations.”
