Taylor Swift’s Olympic Moment
New song “Change” from Taylor Swift was used by NBC during last nights Olympic highlights.
Swift started composing the song after she had been signed to Big Machine Records.
Swift said “I wrote this song about being on a small record label, being a 16-year-old girl, and having a lot of odds stacked up against all of us”.
However, after starting to write “Change”, Swift let the song sit for a while, waiting for futher inspiration before finishing the song. That inspiration came after winning the Horizon award. This award was not only important to Swift but also to the founder of Big Machine Records.
“I looked over at Scott Borchetta after I won, and he was crying,” she said. “That’s when I finished the song, because I knew I couldn’t finish it until something like that happened. It was absolutely the most amazing night of my life, getting to see the emotion of all the people who worked so hard for me. So I wrote that song about that.”
Taylor’s father came up with the idea of connecting the song with the Olympics. She was asked to perform in Beijing during the event by NBC, but that wasn’t going to happen.
“I’m on tour for the rest of my life” she said.
Kenny Chesney Trains With New Orleans Saints
The New Orleans Saints got a break from their regular training camp in Jackson, Mississippi, thanks to Kenny Chesney yesterday.
Chesney joined the saints during practice for a second year. Before suiting up and hitting the field Chesney heard coach Sean Payton telling the players that he would cancel Sunday’s practice if Chesney caught a punt.
On his third try the singer grabbed a 45 yard kick from punter Steve Weatherford…
“I quit growing too young to ever think about getting to have a shot at playing even in college, so this is about the most fun I can have” Chesney said.
“It’s like having a lot of these players come out and sing with us during ‘Back Where I Come From.’ … Sometimes just having the moment to feel what it’s like to do it is the greatest feeling in the world.”
Chesney will perform on Thursday August 14th at the New Orleans Arena.
Sugarland Lawsuit is “Totally Baseless” Says Attorney
Sugarland’s attorney, Gary Gilbert has released a statement about the recent lawsuit filed by band founder, Kristen Hall.
The statement released by Sugarland’s attorney states that the lawsuit is “totally baseless and without merit.”
The statement also states that “Among other factual inaccuracies suggested in the complaint, it is indisputable that Ms. Hall left the group voluntarily and on her own accord. We are absolutely confident that this matter will be resolved in favor of Jennifer and Kristian”.
Hall left the band in 2005 and filed the lawsuit on July 29th of this year. Hall claims she is owed $1.5 million with interest from the revenue from an unwritten agreement with the band at the time she left the band.
