Canadian Country Music Awards In Vancouver

For many of the country music fans in the United States the fact that Canada has it’s own music awards show is news to them, but the show draws a lot of attention from the country music fans across the border.

Past winner’s that many U.S fans might recognize since the event started in 1982 have been Shania Twain, Dixie Chicks, Doc Walker and Alan Jackson.

Canadian country music fans seem to have a love affair with Terri Clark, and the Montreal native has had two #1 top country songs in America with the 1998 single – You’re Easy On The Eyes, and with the 2004 chart topper – Girls Lie Too.

The show is being held on September 13th in Vancouver this year and will have four days of networking, artist showcases, and workshops leading up to the main event. Each year the Association likes to branch out all over country and picks a new city for the Canadian Country Music Awards .

Country Faces Cancer – Light The Night Walk

It is nice when you can get a chance to help your favorite performers fight against cancer, and Country Faces Cancer (CFC) is an industry-wide effort led by Great American Country’s Nan Kelley, a proud lymphoma survivor. This nationwide event helps raise awareness and support to advance the mission of The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS) through its very popular Light The Night Walk.

Country fans get a chance to team up with their favorite country stars and help raise money for the fight against cancer.

How to Get Started?
Register to walk today with one of your favorite country music stars’ teams. Country fans can walk at one of the over 240 fall walks across the U.S. and Canada and still be a part of the Country Faces Cancer effort. Individual fundraising web pages will be created for each fan and the money you raise will roll up to your selected artist’s team page. All fundraisers on your team will be listed and fans can track their team’s progress as our walk season approaches. The local LLS chapter staff will be there to assist every walker along the way.

Trent Willmon, Miranda Lambert, Luke Bryan and Little Big Town.

Joe Nichols Has A New Hit With “Believers”

Joe Nichols has made into the Country Top 40 with his single – Believers and the Arkansas native will be finally releasing the new album – Old Things New on October 27th.

The songwriter has two #1 hits in his career with – Brokensheartville in 2003, and the funny drinking song – Tequila Makes Her Clothes Fall Off, and you can expect some more top country songs from Joe Nichols.

Joe went through rehab to deal with his drinking problem and he has been very open about his past problems with the bottle. All of his fans have been very supportive of his sobriety, and you can hear the new perspective on life that he has on the new album.

CMA Country Music Festival on ABC

If you have not had a chance to see your favorite country stars on tour this Summer, you are in luck, ABC will be showing a country music special on Monday night August 31st.

The show is a cut down version of the Country Musical Festival that was performed in Nashville this past June. The 7 day event included every big name songwriter and singer in the business, and had some great performances from the country artists.

ABC also announced that The 43rd Annual CMA Awards will air November 11th and will be hosted by Brad Paisley and Carrie Underwood. The network commented that the two are a great pair together, and have very good timing that will keep the show moving.

Jason Aldean’s Big Green Tractor Rides To The Top

After only 3 months, top selling country performer Jason Aldean’s -Big Green Tractor has made it’s way to the top of the country music charts. The country love song is the second single to make to the No. 1 position this year from his critically acclaimed album – Wide Open.

In a recent interview the country songwriter said “This thing has just taken on a life of its own…the crowd used to be screaming for ‘She’s Country’ and ‘Hicktown,” and by the end of the first song, they are holding up “Tractor’ signs and going crazy,” said Aldean. “Back-to-back number one’s…I’ll never get tired of the way this feels! The new hit from Jason Aldean is very popular on MySpace and has also been getting many ringtone downloads. He just released his Wide Open Live DVD on August 25th, and it has already become certified gold, this shows the popularity of the country songwriter, and his concert tickets have become harder to find.
