Chris Young has the second number one top country song of his career with “The Man I Want To Be“. The song is actually not the first hit off his current The Man I Want To Be album, that would go to the very first #1 hit single of his recording time in Nashville with “Gettin’ You Home (The Black Dress Song)“.

Young knew early on that he wanted to pursue a career in country music. Raised just minutes away from Nashville in Murfreesboro, Tennessee, he began making trips to Music Row at a young age, trying to land a record deal. He began performing while still in high school, and by the time he was in college was a doing 150 dates a year. When he was offered an opportunity for a regular gig at the famed Texas honky tonk Cowboys, Young jumped at the chance to hone his skills on the competitive Lone Star circuit.

Right now the country artist is on tour in support of his popular album and #1 songs. Part of the tour is scheduled to go thru the Grand Ole Opry, which is still being renovated after the historical flooding that affected all of Tennessee and the Nashville area. One the favorite nights for country fans will be April 18th, 2010 as they get to watch the top selling and performing artists of 2009. Taylor Swift and Carrie Underwood will be the big draws for the show. The two country sweethearts are scheduled to perform as well as Laura Bell Bundy, Billy Currington, John Fogerty, Jack Ingram featuring Dierks Bentley, Toby Keith with Dave Koz, Miranda Lambert, Rascal Flatts and Darius Rucker.

Also some of nominees that already been announced to perform include Jason Aldean, Brooks & Dunn, Kenny Chesney, Toby Keith, Lady Antebellum, Reba McEntire, Tim McGraw, Brad Paisley, Blake Shelton & Trace Adkins, and Keith Urban.

As you can see from the list this is about as great of a country event you can put together. Of course there will be the awards themselves to hand out and Reba McEntire will be doing the Master Of Ceromonies duties. She has become very good at being the hostess of this top country event, and makes the transitions from performers to award winners very enjoyable.

The time is 8 P.M. and will be shown on CBS. This really is about as good as it gets for country music fans and when else do you get a chance to see so many recording artists and performers on the same night.

It is not very often that a country singer has the very first single of their career make it to number one on the country charts, but that is exactly what Easton Corbin has achieved. This weeks #1 hit is – A Little More Country Than That and the Florida native can thank Mercury Nashville for giving him the break he needed after arriving in Nashville during 2006 with his wife Briann after getting his business degree from the University of Florida.

Easton released his self named album on March 2nd of this year and you can expect to hear some more music from the silk voiced country singer. When you hear him for the first time it easy to understand why so many country fans have helped to push his very first published song to the top of the country music billboard.

Mercury has a lot of professional song writers and performers and they helped out Easton a lot on this album. As he makes the rounds on the tour buses and passes thru your town you should make a trip to see the up and coming country performer.

As would be expected he has a very busy year of concerts scheduled for 2010. One of the top names in the industry will probably take him along for awhile on their tour, and as he releases more songs from the album he should become a household name this Summer.

Gretchen Wilson is getting ready to release her new album I Got Your Country Right Here that will be available March 30th. The country singer has already released the first single – Work Hard, Play Harder, and the Country/Rock song has already found it’s way into the Country charts.

The lyrics are about her hard working lifestyle, and how much harder she works at having fun. One of the lines go “You know that people just can’t understand how I’m the first to clock in but the last to pass out”.

Gretchen knows about working hard from her time growing up in trailer parks in Illinois. She quit school in 9th grade to work to help support her and her single mother. She recieved her GED in 2007 and really is an inspiration for those who want to finish their schooling as an adult, by the way she is an advocate for the adult learning program and has testified before the U.S. Congress to help in funding for the national program.

Some first know Gretchen Wilson for her #1 song – Redneck Woman. The single also won her the Grammy for the Best Country Female Vocal Performance in 2005.

Martina McBride has her third hit single from the current album “Shine” find it’s way into the country charts. “Wrong Baby Wrong” seems to have all the makings of a big hit for the female country superstar. This is one of those beats that gets your attention right from the beginning, and the lyrics are just as catchy as the guitar hook lines in the verses.

The album already has created two songs, “Ride” and “I”ll Just Call You Mine“, that made it into the top 20 country charts, and there is no reason to think that her current single should not do the same.

Martina is currently on the road with Trace Adkins as part of the Shine All Night tour, and as you can imagine this mixture of great country performers has been getting great reviews, and selling lots of tickets.

Researching back on Martina McBride’s history of #1 country songs, it is hard to believe that she has not had the top country song since the 2001 song “Blessed“, this is hard to believe, it seems as though she always has a song in the record charts, hopefully “Wrong Baby Wrong” will end this streak.
