Sugarland’s – “Already Gone” New #1 Song This Week

When the new top 40 Country Songs is released next weekend “Sugarland” will be the new #1 band. The Atlanta based band has made the steady climb to the top and with their hit song “Already Gone” have become favorites among many country fans.

With the popularity of Sugarlands music, it was nice to see singer Jennifer Nettles asked to perform at the star studded Inaugural Celebration for President Barack Obama, that will also include Garth Brooks and Miley Cyrus, among many others.

Lady Antebellum On Tour With Kenny Chesney

Looks like Lady Antebellum has finally made the big time, and will spend the better part of 2009 on tour with Kenny Chesney. The cities and dates have not been set, but the combination of Lady Antebellum first, Miranda Lambert in the middle, and Kenny Chesney closing, should be one of the top selling concerts this year.

The “The Sun City Carnival Tour” is what has been chosen for this road trip, and the official announcement should be made soon.

Keith Urban To Perform at NASCAR Favorite “Daytona 500″

The Nascar and Country Music connection continues to grow, as Keith Urban is scheduled to play at what many consider to be the Super Bowl of Nascar Racing. The Australian born star will be on the stage for the pre-race show on Sunday (Feb. 15).

Keith is currently working on a new album with Capitol Records and rumors have him on tour in the United States and Canda for at least 50 cities for 2009. This should give everyone a chance to see the country singer, and possibly his celebrity wife Nicole Kidman

Peoples Choice Awards Has Serious Country Flavor

Tonight’s Peoples Choice Awards will have some Big Time Country stars on the Los Angelas stage tonight. Carrie Underwood, Taylor Swift, Brad Paisley, Kenny Chesney. Jewel and Rascal Flatts are scheduled to make an appearance or perform at the Shrine Auditorium.

Country has been slowly climbing up the contemporary music charts all decade and seems to have finally reached equal billing with all of the music genres. Quite a few of the Country singers have been nominated and should be big winners tonight. this post will be updated with all of the winners tommorow.

The Peoples Choice Awards had all the stars come out to present prizes to the winners, and Carrie Underwood came home with the most awards. She was chosen as top celebrity “Under 35″, a new category, top country singer and for top female singer overall, Kid Rock won for the best rock song, this was for his crossover hit, “All Summer Long”, which spent a good chunk of time on the country charts this year.
